I accidentally hurt both my wrists at the same time. My hands ached. My thumbs and fingers would freeze into a claw-like position. The doctors said I had symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. My options were surgery, laser treatment, or I could try acupuncture. Surgery was out of the question for me. One wrist at a time or both together seemed like a painful solution and the recovery would take too much time.
I opted for acupuncture. I considered myself “blessed” when I found Bayshore Acupuncture & Traditional Medicine.
The first week I went twice, and the pain seemed to fade. After one month, all of my symptoms disappeared except for a dull distant ache. I continued therapy. After two months even the dull ache disappeared.
That was three years ago. I now go to acupuncture once a month for my overall well being.
It relaxes me and makes me feel less stressed. It helps me emotionally and mentally. I enjoy, and look forward to my appointments.

I have worked with computers for over 35 years. I was recently diagnosed with symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. The neurologists test results said ‘severe’. The orthopedist said ‘surgery ASAP and expect 4 weeks of disability’. I could not afford to be away from my job for so long. I took matters into my own hands and sought acupuncture instead. My GP told me it would be a waste of time.
When I first came to Wai Chiu, I had trouble holding the pen
to fill out the forms. I could not close my hand. I had swelling of the wrist and a ganglion cyst on the top of my hand. I was in bad shape. I came twice a week to Wai Chiu and each treatment resulted in positive progress. After one month, I had made significant progress – the swelling was down and the pain and tingling greatly diminished. Wai Chiu takes good care of her patients and is expert at helping you get through a sometimes stressful process. You see, I hate needles! She always takes time to talk to you and ask you questions.
After the first cycle of treatments, I could close my hand with only 1 finger partially closing. As I continued treatment, I was able to gain some strength and I continue to experience positive progress with each session. I can close my hand. I can brush my teeth and hold a pen. It is miraculous! I have not missed any work. And no surgery! Thank you Wai Chiu.
